Moving Furniture

The habit of moving furniture around seems to run in my family. My mother enjoyed doing it to try out new configurations, and I confess I like to do it too! And, although actually lifting furniture and trying it in different configurations or even on different floors of the house is still a game I like to play, I am now also intrigued by furniture that can actually be easily transformed—by sliding a panel, lifting a flap, pushing or pulling a drawer.  Through a combination of fancy hardware, properly weighted panels, or integral hand-crafted pulls, our newest furniture for spring… Read More

THINK FABRICATE INTRODUCES LANTERN HELIX

Geometric Fixture Adds Playfulness and Drama to the Classic Chandelier Form (Brooklyn, NY—May 2014) There are many ways to combine light and sculpture, but none do it as cleverly as Think Fabricate. The Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary design firm’s new chandelier, the Lantern Helix, is an inventive take on the classic lighting typology that is just as grand as it is playful. The idea of combining and intermingling geometries informs the design of the Lantern Helix, which features fourteen individual Think Lanterns that vary in size, shape, and finish: flared or straight in profile, tall or short in height, and made of… Read More
